Andrea Pipinato

I graduated in the winter of 1999 at the University of Padova, Italy,  with a major in hydraulics.

Hired for  a collaboration by an engineering services company, the Soil Water Structures, Engin Soft ,  I was working on  the environmental impact project of the Pedemontana tollway, a new state road to be insert in the traffic web of north-eastern Italy, connecting Vicenza to Treviso.

The complete project was delivered upon the end of May 2000 and the building up execution  will likely start during the next few years.

Looking then for an internship abroad, I was finally accepted by  Southern DataStream, a provider of agricultural engineering, water management, and water quality services, located in the south of Florida.

I started my internship since June 2000 and I will stay until the end of August 2001.

This working experience is a new and charming challenge for my first time off old Europe.

I  worked from the beginning of July till around September 20, 2000 on the MacArthur Agro Ecology Research Center (MAERC) project: field data collection and instrument system maintenance.  This project is developed in collaboration with IFAS (Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, Florida University). IFAS sites and Ranch Reports are the links that address issues concerning this first project I have been working on during my stay in the adventurous Buck Island Ranch, Lake Placid.  I shared the first half of this period with Isaac Adusei, an intern from Ghana and now a great friend of mine.

Once moved in Labelle I started to manage the organization of the 10th Annual Southwest Florida Water Resources Conference,  as a representative of AWRA  (American Water Resources Association, Florida Section).
The conference was successfully hold in Fort Myers on December 1, 2000.

In the same period I attended several meetings of the Caloosahatchee River Citizens association (CRCA), becoming leter member of the association's Board of Directors

I also collaborated with Olli Neumann on the beginning of the design and development of automatic water sampler . This project, after initial heated arguments and a hundred of different ideas on  table every single day, was then fully developed and brought to completion by Olli.  He did an excellent job, better than I could do because of my lack of german character.  From  his website you can  take all technical details

From the beginning of December 2000 I started my collaboration with Dr. Claudia Perlongo dealing with an  hydrologic simulation for the Lee County Regional Water Supply Authority, in Fort Myers. We used  XP SWMM (eXPert Storm Water Managing Model) for surface urban runoff simulation applied to the City of Cape Coral urban canal network. The simulation has been carried till the calibration phase: on January 29, 2001 Claudia hold a progress of work presentation for some  Boyle Engineering and a City of Cape Coral staff memebers.  The project has then been temporarily suspended at he end of February 2001

After a couple of weeks of vacation in Italy over the end of January and the beginning of February 2001 I started working, from March 1, 2001 on the FHANTM (Field Hydrologic and Nutrient Transport Model) water quality model. This softwere is  part of  BRADSS (Beef RAnch Decision Support System) an integrating  beef ranch management system meant to simulate the impact of cattle stocking rates, forage production, and pasture management on the water resources.  A slide presentation I prepared  concerning this project and a couple of articles  edited by Dr. Capece  can bring you into some deeper details
